The Xianning project started the pilot trial operation of residential living garbage classification in eight districts in the urban area of the city from November 2017, and gradually showed the effectiveness of the classification in accordance with local conditions and in a gradual manner, so that by the end of 2020, it would have completed the classified collection, transportation, and resource utilization of living garbage in the 29 districts designated by the government (including three public institutions), covering 38,000 households and 136,000 people. By 2023, the urban area will be expanded to 778 districts, and all districts within the urban area will have implemented waste classification, realizing 100% coverage of living waste classification in residential districts across the city.
